WONDERFUL!!! I can't say enough about this place! I hope you have space for us when we return.. Thanks...
We are leaving Washington today after two terrific weeks in this great city. We would not have had such a quality experience had it not been for our fabulous accommodations at 1709 - P St. NW. Great location in a diverse and lively neighborhood, a first-class apartment with all the needed accoutrements, and gracious and helpful owners all contributed to a memorable vacation. Thanks so much. Pat, Mike and Brendan Crahan San Francisco, CA
Thanks so much! What more can we add to what's already been said... you guys are great... hope you'll find room for us in March!
November 19, 2004
Nov. 19, 2004 We introduced our 11 year old grandson to DC. It was a very active sightseeing event. Accommodations at DC Digs were ideal for this occasion. I hesitate to recommend it too highly because we have 7 more grandchildren looking forward to the same experience and hope to repeat it at 1709 P St.
Very Beautiful on the inside of every appartment and a very good price! I loved my stay and I encourage you to stay here to!
My only concern is that now that I have told all my friends and relatives how perfect DCDiggs was to stay in that I may have problems finding an opening on our next visit to DC. Beautiful, clean, and a great location. When I called Lamar because we were short on hangers he made sure we had what we needed right away. I wish I could find a place like this on all our travels
Home for the month of July was DC Digs. The four apartments in the complex are great for entertaining and make living (or visiting) DC a pleasure, not an assignment. By far the best thing about DC Digs is that the building owners actually care about their clients and take great care of visitors, whatever the length of their stay.
Dear All, I stayed at DC Digs for 6 months and from Day 1 it felt like home. The decoration is not your standard corporate housing, and the neighborhood is a true neighborhood. I hate to recommend it too highly because I plan to return again and again and don't want it to book up. Enjoy your stay, Deb
I stayed in apt 0 fo DC Digs for three months between overseas tours and had a fabulous time. The apt. is convenient to everything, beautifully furnished, and with high speed internet in each apt! Beyond providing such wonderful accomodations, the gracious hosts are super understanding and willing to work out any special needs that out-of-town and State Dep't peeps might have. I highly recommend and will definitely stay with DC Digs in the future. Leah Pease, CA

I lived in Apartment 2 for nearly a month in May 2004 between tours and my only regret about dcDigs is that I didn't get to stay longer! It was an all-around great experience--great location, nicely decorated and wonderfully equipped apartment which was warm and welcoming. The owners were helpful and accommodating. They're going to have to open several more in the neighborhood to handle their rapidly growing list of fans! Will definitely try for a place again next time we're back in the U.S. Kim Sonn, New York
We stayed in Flat 2 at the beginning of May 2004. It absolutely made our visit! All needs catered for, and more - it really was a home from home (and maybe even better than home!). Style and comfort; peace and tranquility, in the midst of an atmospheric, bustling neighbourhood. The owners went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Cannot recommend it highly enough - do go and stay, if you can get in, and see for yourselves. Even the great photos on the website do not do it justice. Janet Williams and Colin Halliwell (Wales, UK).
I stayed at DC Digs for 3 months in early 2004 between overseas tours and it could not have been better. It felt like being in my own home. My apartment was very comfortable & the location was just plain convenient. Lamar and Dean were very accommodating hosts and wonderful to deal with. Their attention to detail is evident from the moment you walk through the front door. Dwayne - Vancouver, BC
We really felt lucky to have found such a fabulous place in the Dupont area for our stay in DC. Everything was first class and I loved having the place cleaned for us. It was great to have a place to park our big Texas Suburban. Jolynne and Dick Harvey Dallas
To be honest, I don't want to get the word out that this is a special place to stay, but here it is! I highly recommend staying at this place because it is above and beyond anything I've ever stayed at, and this includes some really nice hotels. So there it is, a nicely furnished, very tasteful, great location in a beautiful neighborhood with all the amenities of a home (i wish i could call it home, its that nice). Chris Beanes, Juneau, Alaska
April 16-25, 2004 -We just completed a 10 days stay at DC Digs Apt Zero---it was great!!!We found it very comfortable, close to everything and Lamar and Dean have thought of every convenience. We will return as we haven't found anything like it in the DC area or other cities we have visited---it was like a "home away from home"!!! John and Jayne ----Florida
David and Rebecca, California We traveled to DC with our two teenage daughters. The apartment was great. It is very close to both transit and shopping as well as being within walking distance of the mall. Being able to return "home" in the evening and eat a meal together while talking about what we had seen was one of the highlights of our trip.
My wife and I spent 7 very pleasant months at DCDigs between tours of duty abroad. Everything about the stay was wonderful. The location is perfect for Washington, close to great restaurants, museums, to the subway, and elsewhere. The apartment itself was comfortable, beautifully decorated and made for a wonderful home, if only temporary. But most of all, we greatly appreciated the warmth and assistance of the proprietors. They handled some of our special needs (in preparation for returning abroad) with grace and understanding. We whole-heartedly endorse a stay at DCDigs. Our only hesitation in making such an endorsement is that perhaps they'll be booked the next time we come to DC! Andrew & Eva
It's what your very own DC getaway condo would be if you could afford one; beautifully decorated, convenient, cozy, and located in a charming building in a vibrant and historic neighborhood. We were incredibly lucky to find DCdigs for Andy's extended business stay in Washington. (Imagine attending the lighting of the National Christmas Tree at the White House, then walking "home", or taking a 20-minute 'stroll' to the Smithsonian!) Lamar and Dean are the best--they treat guests like family, and take very good care of the facilities. We will always fondly think of DCdigs as "our place". Andy and Anita Straw; Charlotte, North Carolina.
My husband and I stayed at DC Digs for nearly three months, in transit between postings abroad. It was absolutely fantastic, everything we hoped for and more! Great apartment (stocked with everything we need to feel at home, and decorated with great style, wonderful location (could walk EVERYWHERE), and very friendly landlords! We will definitely come back again! Liz and Andrew
What an incredible place to stay, and I'm not just talking the location. The apartment was so much more than the website was able to reflect. It was so comfortable and all about location, location!! It was wonderful to spend a long day walking & sight-seeing & then come home, make some homemade food & watch movies on the nights we didn't go out. This was our first, but hopefully not our last stay. Cindy & Rene' from Sacramento, California!!
An unexpected work assignment brought me to DC for a month which meant spending Xmas 6000 miles away from family and friends. Thanks to DC Digs I did not end up skipping Xmas in a lousy hotel room - but was able to entertain friends here and enjoy myself (and even got some work done...) What a great place. You've gotta dig it! Olli-Pekka Sulasma, Helsinki, Finland
Another great visit to DC thanks to DC digs and the attentive hosts. What a gorgeous Christmas! We visited our kids and were able to do a little entertaining right here too. Thanks to you! This is the perfect spot in DC to walk, take the metro, relax.....and it is a bargain too! Susan and Dan Henry
Re: June - July 2002 Guys: DC Digs proved to be a home away from home. The place speaks for itself, but also for the people running it! Thank you both so much for making Sylke and myself feel so comfortable during the happy --and challenging times-- of receiving a new addition to the family. Thanks especially from little Niklas Antonios, for whom Apartment One was his first 'digs'.
Thanks for giving us a great long weekend! Coming "home" to our classy, cozy, and perfectly-located apartment after a long day in the cool and rainy December weather was a joy. Eric & Chris (Austin, Texas)
From the moment I stepped in the door, I felt like I entered a comfortable rest spot. Having a great place to stay makes ones visit that much more pleasureable. I almost want to keep this my little known secret!! Marlon Sly
Couldn't be nicer. Great layout, great decor, very inviting, perfect location...what's not to like Peter Laarman & Marlon Sly-Lundasi New York, New York
DC digs is a great place! It's even better than it looks on the website. We had a great place in apartment one with everything beyond our expectations. There was everything you could ever need. We will definately be coming back here next time we go to Washington. Scott and Mike Lemay (Chelsea, Quebec)
Lamar, This place is a gem. Inviting a few colleagues over to my place for tea and cookies after dinner was priceless. I'm almost sorry I told so many people about DCDigs, as I may have trouble booking the apartment for this conference next year. Thank you for everything. Cheers! BZ
Our stay at the DC Digs appartment (1) was fabulous. We come to DC fairly regularly for work and to be able to stay in not a generic hotel, but a beautiful, everything-you-need apartment in a great location was perfect. The location, the design of the apartment and all of the amenities are all major features and I would highly recommend DC Digs as a place to stay while you are in the DC area. Paula Betuzzi (Georgetown, Guyana, South America)
Words fail me!!! I awoke every morning pinching myself to see if I really was staying in such a fabulous apartment. The photos do not truly portray the attention to detail, the incredible finish and the feeling of complete relaxation and belonging that you get staing at 1709 P St. Lamar is the consummate host!!!I will return often........ JH
The apartment itself is comfortable and completely equipped. This trip has been agreat success besause I found DCDigs!Little Old Lady from Denver
I really enjoy staying at DC Digs. I feel like I was staying at home. The owners of DCDigs really made a good job in order to make it the BEST option to stay when you're in Washington DC. I wish I knew about this place before and I looking forward to go back to DC and to stay at DC Digs again. Thanks a lot guys!
I stayed the entire month of May. It was a wonderful place to call home. It was more like home than a hotel. It truely made for a wonderful experience. It is in a great location and very well done. You really can't beat it for the price. Lamar and Dean really went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. I have recommended DCDigs to all my freinds and co-workers who have extended stays in DC. If I get the chance to go back, I will stay with DCDigs again. James - Ocean Springs, MS
The apartment was beautiful; I really felt like I "lived" in Dupont. This was quite a change from the normal Hilton I was used to. I liked the way the apartment was furnished with everything you could possibly need. The management (and owner) cater to your personal needs. By far, accommodations worth EVERY PENNY!
WOW! I lucked out this time! Although the web site looked like the place was pretty nice, one never really knows what to expect ... the place is unbelievable! The attention to details really shows. Thanks for making my DC stay so great ... sure hope you can find room for me when I return in November! -Rob Dallas, TX
YOUR SEARCH FOR DC LODGING ENDS HERE!!! We would choose an apartment at DCDigs over any suite the Hay-Adams or Four Seasons has to offer - there is something special about returning home to your own place after a long day seeing the sights. And what a home it is - Lamar and Dean have thought of every creature comfort imaginable and then added even more creative and unexpected touches. The apartment is spotless and luxurious and the location can't be beat. We plan to be regulars! Rob and Jack Winston-Salem, North Carolina
The apartment looked wonderful from the website and photos and was just as wonderful as expected if not more. I stayed in apt. zero and as others have said, didn't want to leave at the end of my stay! The furnishings are great, everything is there that you need and the location is perfect. Lamar made sure I knew how to find him in case of any issues (there were none) and helped to orient me to the neighborhood. Thanks.
Second visit! Thank you for this handsomely decorated, clean home away from home. I can park my car conviently but hardly need it because P Street is within walking distance of the "red line", Kramer Books and Fresh Fields. Perfect. What makes this executive apartment superior to others we've tried in different cities, is that the owners are real people - not a distant corporation. They take care of details and the pride they have in their apartments is well-founded.
When you need accommodation in DC, give DC Digs a serious look! I spent 10 weeks in the 17th and P apartment and had an absolutely fabulous time. The location, convenience and decor really make for a pleasant stay in the city. The Dupont Circle Metro is a 5 minute walk, which is a gateway to all of DC. Not having to rely on a car for access to daily needs was wonderful. The neighborhood is friendly and offers just the right amount of options (retaurants, shops, nightlife) without being overwhelming. The apartments are tastefully and functionally furnished. I felt like I was staying in an upscale hotel without the upscale price. If you feel ambitious and want to create a culinary masterpiece, use the fully furnished kitchen; if you feel like vegging on the soft leather couch (my favorite!) playing Nintendo you can do that too. Without a doubt, DC Digs provides a wonderful opportunity for a pleasant stay in Washington. Thank you Lamar and Dean for offering such quality accommodation in the heart of the city. Sincerely, Michael OBryon
I had an excellent time in apartment Zero. Everything was very good and beyond my expectation. I hope I have chance to rent the same apartment in future.
I can't say enough about the apartment, I should say the home that Lamar and Dean of DCDigs!, provided. The place was beautiful, and it looks just like it does here on the web site. Those are not “similar to this” pictures but actual rooms from the apartments you will live in if you choose to make DCDigs your temporary or vacation home. The neighborhood is great, not only friendly but lively and safe. I was so at home, it made my work assignment so enjoyable. The idea of a hotel for 3 months was so uncomfortable to me, I started looking into corporate temporary housing but even that seemed too sterile. Dean and Lamar have taken such care in making the apartments into homes for their visitors; it is a great comfort to come home to a place that is warm and inviting. They designed and decorated the apartments for maximum comfort as you would your own place. I hit the jackpot when I found DCDigs!! I dare anyone who stays there to not feel at home, it’s not possible. Everything that you need is within your grasps, for extended or short stays you don't have to think about getting or bringing any household items yet you are in fact at home, and shopping is 3 short blocks away. Everything I needed was in my neighborhood; I rented movies, stopped at the pharmacy, picked up my dry cleaning and ate food from at least 5 different countries, all this in less than 25 steps from my door. I have to say that two nicer or more understanding “landlords” could not be found and even to call them “landlords” is inappropriate they are more like friends, who know all about the neighborhood and surrounding area. You only have to ask and they will tell you how to get anywhere, or suggest places to go and what to do or see. They are always accessible to anyone staying at their place, at anytime, and I can say that from experience having locked myself out at nearly 1am one night. Anything I needed I only had to ask, and either Lamar or Dean would respond quickly, despite the fact that they each worked a full day themselves. Location! Location! Location! It is probably one of the most important features of a trip whether for vacation or business and you can’t beat Dupont Circle. You are in the heart of a great city, the atmosphere is friendly and you will never feel alone, which for me gave me a great sense of safety. I regularly took walks and no matter what time I was out I was never on a deserted street or turning down a dark alley. My commute to work included a 5-minute walk to the Metro, a 20-minute train ride and a 2-minute walk to the office. You just can’t beat that!!! No more than two Metro stops away from Dupont Circle you can see the museums, monuments and the Zoo. And if you don’t like to cook you will never starve, just walk out your door and let your nose guide you. Leaving my apartment was hard to do, I had become so at home and accumulated so many things I had to ship stuff separately and in fact left some things with my neighbor on the 3rd floor. This is the final comment that I will make. I don’t know how they accomplish it or if it is just purely a fluke, but the people that stay at DCDigs are often as friendly and welcoming as Dean and Lamar. This is a telling statement of how positive and outgoing people attract others in kind. I will be moving to DC this year (2002), and I will be no doubt stopping by to see my friends Lamar, Dean and John every now and then. Thanks Guys!! We "shared" in Deb 'n Dale's Washington visit for a brief family reunion and have been telling everyone we know how great DCDigs is. The location, the apartment, the amenities, the neighborhood, the whole package - you even supplied great weather! Mom & Dad Granby, CT
DC Digs are cool digs indeed, and apartment 0 was a great place to return following a hard day on the tourist circuit. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable, with groovy appointments and great kitchen and bath. The couch was a comfortable sleeper and the separate bedroom provided privacy. The computer w/internet connection and the reserved parking space were invaluable.
We had a fantastic time and have already recommended DCDigs to several people we know! The location was fantastic, the condo was comfortable, and the weather was perfect. We will definitely be contacting you again the next time we visit DC. A friend stayed on the concierge level at the Hilton on Conn Ave just a few blocks away. DCDigs far surpassed his accommodations. Deb & Dale Ashlock (San Francisco)
This is the last night of our two week stay in Washington DC and Apartment Zero. The apartment has been wonderful...has everything we needed and is nicely furnished and comfortable. Furthermore, the neighborhood is lively and full of eateries, museums, places to go and to top it off the Metro is just a couple blocks away. It's only a 20 minute walk to the Mall anyway, but the Metro will take you all over or, more importantly, BACK to your apartment at the end of a loooooong day of sightseeing. The only problem that I am having in writing all this is that DC Digs might become so popular that we might not be able to get in if/when we decide to return! So, to all you readers...DON'T book the apartment when WE want to return! Our email is hudsons@gte.net if anyone would like to contact us with questions.... Enjoy DC!
What can I say that hasn't been said? I had an extended stay here of about 10 weeks, and could not have enjoyed myself more. Besides the wonderfully furnished apartments (with everything you need for a short or long-term stay), the location is excellent. You really can walk or take the metro anywhere. The monuments and other major attractions are right off the metro, and anything you would need for daily living is within a few blocks. You can get to grocery stores, the pharmacy, dry cleaner or video store in a 5 minute walk. Shopping, cafés and restaurants are right around the corner. And nightlife is a short cab ride away. As for Dean and Lamar, they truly are care-takers of their apartments. The thought that has gone into each apartment is apparent. And the entire building is well maintained. I really felt like I was at home. When I come back to D.C., I hope to stay here again. I have enjoyed myself tremendously and know that anyone who stays will as well. Ms. Barrie Resnikoff
Stop looking; You've found your place in D.C. The only thing you need to woory about is whether they have an apartment available for you during your visit. Lamar and Dean have done 1st rate job. You can't find a better deal anywhere in D.C. The apartments are furnished perfectly and completely. Nothing is overlooked. The furnishings are well thought out, and the kitchen and bath are truly luxurious. Lots of places advertise "Dupont Circle" but this is really in the center of the Dupont Circle area, and everything you've come to washington for. Walk to literally hundreds of great restaurants in the Dupont, Adams Morgan, and Kalorama Areas. Our only skepticism is that Lamar and Dean can maintain such great rates; If so, it will be our only choice in D.C. John Deaderick & Michael Pritchard Savannah Georgia
If you are impressed with this website, you can be assured you will find the same level of quality and attention to detail at DCDigs guest apts. We stayed for a week in June with our children and found that our DC experience was greatly enhanced by staying in and experiencing the city as a resident would. The neighborhood is lively and interesting...there are countless great places to eat and two grocery stores nearby. The Metro and bus lines are convenient and we were able to walk to the White House. The apartment is both beautiful and comfortable - we enjoyed every moment of time we spent at DCDigs.
DC Digs is a wonderful place to stay in Washington. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was easy to take Metro to all the major tourist stops including the Capitol, White House, Smithsonian, etc. The flat is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, and was always a comfort to come home to at the end of the day. The airconditioning was a life saver. We enjoyed sitting at the small round table by the front window at breakfast time and watching the parade of people passing by. Internet access is also great to have for checking email and for finding info for the DC area. The flat easily accomodated four adults with two of us sleeping on the surprisingly comfortable pull-out sofa bed. We really liked the Dupont Circle area, finding ourselves in the center of activity. There are lots of intersting shops and restaurants easily within walking distance. We ate at Raku, a Thai fusion restaurant where we enjoyed the outdoor dining. We also liked Firehook Bakery for coffee and pastries, and had a very nice, authentic French meal at Bistrot Du Coin on 20th street, including Bordeaux wine, delicious entrees and scrumptious deserts. This is definitely a great way to visit Washington and a place we will gladly return to in the future. Bob and Fay California
Very comfortable...my 15 yr old son is happy too..nintendo, a comfortable pull out couch and a computer, what more can you ask for.. Thanks The Reichert Family
WE had a great time. The apartment was immaculate. The community was safe and welcoming. Thank you for a wonderful week- Mary, Tracey, Katherine and Meaghan Haley
What can I say about DCDigs that hasn't already been said? The place is perfect--from the beautifully furnished apartment (Dean and Lamar have thought of and provided everything), to the closeness of the metro. Wonderful restaurants (I now need to go on a diet)and interesting people-- this place has it all. My husband and I travel to DC quite a bit and if there's room here, we won't be staying in a hotel. I really can't say enough nice things about DCDigs!!!! It's awesome!! Chuck and Terri Linden
Business travel sucks. I can never wait to go home. Having said that, my DC Digs apartment made me want to stay longer. Beautifully decorated, comfortably furnished, complete with amenities that I dare any hotel to match. OK, so there's no pool. I would recommend DC Digs to ANY business traveler. It's like coming home at the end of the day.
Great location. Attractive and comfortable neighborhood with lots going on--good bookstores, fascinating old houses, plenty of options for eating. Easy access to metro puts everything within reach. We ranged from Silver Spring to Vienna conveniently and quickly (and got great help from Metro employees in finding our way). The apartment is comfortable, well-equipped and convenient. (Ours even had an umbrella). The computer is a real plus for keeping up with email or for business use.
We visit DC frequently and always stay at the Park Hyatt. When visiting for a month this time we decided to find more affordable accommodations. We stumbled on the DC Digs website and arranged to rent an apartment and parking space for the month of April 2001. What a find!!! The accommodations are as nice as any four-star DC hotel (minus the maid and room service of course) with a lot more space. The property has just been professionally renovated. Our one bedroom apartment was beautifully finished and well furnished and equipped. The location can’t be beat. Within a few blocks are dozens of restaurants, several grocery stores, a pharmacy, galleries, shops and even a Metro station. I doubt we’ll ever stay in a hotel in DC again as long as there is room at DC Digs! If you want a personal review please feel free to email us at broach@bigfoot.com. David and Linda Broach
Our family of four spent school vacation week in D.C., and the basement apartment on P Street fit our needs perfectly. With the well-equipped kitchen, we fixed a few breakfasts and cooked dinner a couple of times. That combined with this reasonably priced alternative to $200+/night hotel rooms left us plenty of cash for the souvenir shops! Our hosts Lamar and Dean made sure we had everything we needed. Our kids (7 and 10) want us to reserve the same place for next year, and we think we will. Thanks!
We are ending our week's stay in the first floor guest apartment on P St. and returning to Los Angeles, and our stay was more than we hoped for. The apartment is impeccably furnished, the location is ideal with shopping, restaurants, markets, and metro all close by. We will recommend it to all our friends and family wishing to come to DC and wanting a non-hotel experience. We really felt like we were part of the neighborhood. We can't wait to return!
